As the construction industry pivots from assumed to evidenced competence under the Building Safety Act, inconsistent installation standards remain a key challenge – particularly in areas where safety and performance depend on getting it right first time.
The Industry Competence Committee (ICC) warns that competence frameworks across many sectors are still immature, with organisational competence lagging far behind individual qualifications. In passive fire protection and insulation, this gap can result in rework, failed inspections, delays and increased risk to building occupants.
Addressing this gap requires practical, accessible training that reflects real site conditions and supports consistent standards across the workforce.
In response, ARC Building Solutions has launched the ARC Protect Learning Hub, a new free online platform designed to support installers, contractors and employers working across passive fire protection and insulation.
