Contract includes repair work for approximately 5,000 properties over a five-year period, and the work Avonside Group will undertake covers the removal of existing coverings, checking the structure and carrying out any required repairs including new under-felt, battens, tile/slate coverings, hips, ridges, valleys, renewal of eaves, fascia, verges, gutters and downpipes.

Specialist service provider Avonside Group has announced it has had a successful bid for the Sheffield City Council re-roofing programme confirmed.

Avonside Group proudly beat five other bidders to secure the notable contract, which includes repair work for approximately 5,000 properties over a five-year period, and according to Avonside Group it is believed to be one of the most significant single awards of its type in Europe.

Speaking on behalf of the Avonside Group, CEO Eddie Stanton commented: “We are delighted to be chosen to work with Sheffield City Council on this project, and I’d like to pay tribute to the professionalism of all of our staff and team members who worked so diligently to put forward our bid.”

Avonside Group says the refurbishment work that it will undertake covers the removal of existing coverings, checking the structure and carrying out any required repairs including new under-felt, battens, tile/slate coverings, hips, ridges, valleys, renewal of eaves, fascia, verges, gutters and downpipes.

It will use Marley products during the first year of the programme, which also includes the trial installation of solar PV and battery storage to some communal flats that will be contractor designed.

As part of the bid, the Group says it has recognised key areas of the bid revolve around social responsibility and commitment to the local community.

Richard Bostock, Avonside Group’s newly appointed Social Housing Business Director, stated: “Commitment to the local community is central to any bid of this type; those commitments are more important than ever given the situation we all face in the light of the Coronavirus pandemic. We at Avonside are committed to ensuring we fulfil those commitments in full.”

Chris Firth, Group Commercial Director, added: “This award comes as a tremendous boost and is a vindication of our decision to invest strategically in our Bid Team to enable us to play a greater part in the Social Refurbishment programmes that are available.”
