New CPD module Cavity barriers for ventilated rainscreen façades addresses the key questions and issues regarding cavity barriers.

The Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) has added a new CPD module to its online CPD programme.

The MCRMA says the new CPD module: Cavity barriers for ventilated rainscreen façades sets out to consider the key questions about cavity barriers and offers guidance for their correct specification, including an understanding of the difference between a fire stop and a cavity barrier; the regulations that apply to the different countries within the UK, and the types of cavity barriers used in ventilated rainscreen facades.

The association says effective fire stopping and cavity barriers are essential to restrict the spread of smoke or flames, and to maintain compartmentation, pointing out that cavity fire barriers are an essential element of fire protection.

There are now 16 approved CPDs available on the MCRMA website. The course material is studied offline with an online assessment component to verify knowledge. The MCRMA says the modules represent an anticipated 60-120 minutes of professional development, and following successful completion of the CPD a certificate is available for immediate download. All modules have been accredited by the CPD Certification Service, and the CPDs are available to anyone seeking to develop their knowledge and skills within the metal building envelope sector.
