SR Timber has marked two significant product information milestones for its SRT GOLD roofing batten, with the renewal of its CCPI assessment and third-party verification of a new Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
The roofing batten specialist successfully renewed its assessment against the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), two years after becoming one of the first roofing batten suppliers to be assessed against the code.
Alongside this, SR Timber has published an EPD for its SRT GOLD BS 5534 graded roofing batten, providing independently verified information on the product’s environmental impact.
EPDs provide standardised data covering a product’s life-cycle environmental impact, including its carbon footprint, and are increasingly being used to support Scope 3 emissions reporting and whole-life carbon assessments. They can also contribute towards voluntary building certifications including BREEAM and LEED.
The SRT GOLD EPD details its carbon footprint from raw material extraction through to final disposal, helping customers assess embodied carbon and make informed product choices.
SRT GOLD is graded to BS 5534:2014+A2:2018 and complies with BS 8417:2011+A1:2014 for the preservation of wood. It is also WPA approved to Use Class 2.
Shaun Revill, Trading Director at SR Timber, said: “Over the past 20 years, we have worked to maintain consistent quality in our graded SRT GOLD batten, which meets all grading requirements to ensure it is a compliant material for roofers to work with and to support the longevity of the roof. Controlling the entire supply chain from tree to roof helps us do this, and providing clarity on product information is a key part too, so our successful renewal of CCPI is an important statement.”
He added: “We wanted to provide an EPD for the product as well. Whilst it isn’t currently a legal requirement when selling within the UK market, it is likely to be implemented under the revised CPR. In the meantime, it demonstrates to customers our commitment to providing the market with further material transparency.”
